InterestsShipping Charges
We frequently get asked- Your shipping charges are higher than others I have seen... As to shipping, NESM takes into consideration weight & the fact that we have a P/T shipping clerk on our payroll, who, like many in our employ, is a rehabilitating displaced worker from the economically disadvantaged neighborhood that our warehouse is in. We estimate the time it will take him to PROPERLY prep the item for packaging; & with all electronic items, this takes a little more time than, like, a dry goods item. NESM is really not about making profit, it IS a pilot operation concerned w/ electronics recycling & providing jobs to the disadvantaged.
Business InformationHistory/background
We have been recycling computers and electronics since 1994.
Return policy
Sold AS-IS ,NO RETURNS> We apologize for being so stringent as to our policy involving this, but we have had too many scams perpetrated on us in the past. We will try to reasonably cooperate in exceptional circumstances, should they arise.
What our business does...
Northeast Surplus & Materials, LLC was formed in response to a perceived and real need to reduce the large amount of electronic waste (e-waste) that is finding its way into the nation’s landfills. This electronic waste can be the source of toxic materials that can leach into the environment given enough time. Not only did we want to reduce the e-waste, but we also intend to recoup valuable parts and components, and precious metals at the same time. Less than .3% of the products we receive for recycling actually go into the landfills. Thus, an average truckload of 25,000 pounds of e-waste will yield no more than 75 pounds of inert, clean landfill waste. We accept all type of electronics and electrical waste. Computers, monitors, printers, ancillary and accessory equipment, motors, generators, old power tools, etc.. “If it plugs in, goes around, lights up, or makes a sound, we take it”. Presently, we do not accept televisions or microwave ovens.
Diverse Workforce Information
NESM primarily employs disenfranchised workers of mostly deprived economic backgrounds & many ethnicities plus those who are rehabilitating themselves into the mainstream workplace. We provide jobs mainly for occupants of the economically depressed neighborhood area where our warehouse is located.
