GB - 2017 Stanley Gibbons Commonwealth & British Empire Stamps Catalogue (NEW)
Nov 16, 2016
2017 Edition of Stanley Gibbons Commonwealth & British Empire 1840-1970 Stamps Catalogue.
The standard work of reference for collectors of Commonwealth stamps all over the world. As usual, there have been a number of additions and improvements to the new edition. The listing of official government telegraph stamps, begun in the 2013 edition, is now completed, with the Telephone Service stamps of Patiala and the Telegraphs of Jammu and Kashmir. There are new priced listings of Indian stamps used in Guadur and the ‘CSAR’ and ‘SAR’ perfins of Orange River Colony and Transvaal are now fully documented. In Great Britain, the inverted, reversed and inverted and reversed watermarks are listed for the first time in this catalogue. Throughout the book there are new and improved illustrations, helpful new notes on subjects as diverse as the early lithographs of British Guiana and the 1962 Emancipation overprints of Tonga. There are several new watermark varieties, newly listed plate flaws and ‘used abroads’ and many stamps, previously listed without a price, are now given a valuation. Prices have once again been very carefully reviewed and there are increases (and a few decreases) throughout the catalogue. India and States are up again, as are Australia, Canada and New Zealand, and the continued demand for errors and varieties in all areas and periods has resulted in some notable further rises. It remains an inescapable fact that, buying or selling, it is vitally important to have the very latest ‘Part 1’ to refer to. KEY FEATURES: • The authoritative reference source for GB and Commonwealth information – all stamps from 1840-1970 listed and priced. • To help readers avoid buying forgeries or fakes, or stamps with forged postmarks, there is helpful information on identification. • Strengthened, case bound binding for extra durability. • Unique listing by SG number. • Full colour illustrations. • Invaluable six-page article on stamp condition. • Prices have been carefully and extensively revised throughout the catalogue and there are increases, some of them quite significant, throughout all periods and territories. India and States, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and Canada all see widespread price rises, while errors and many plate flaws and watermark varieties also show marked increases. • Whether you are an active buyer of Commonwealth stamps, a dealer or an investor, it is vital to be right up to date with this very active market – and there is no more up-to-date reference than the 2017 ‘Part 1’.

Excellent Value for Money For An Original Product.
Why buy a refilled/remanufactured ink cartridge/toner when the originals are available as an excellent value for money as compared to the refilled/remanufactured ink/toner cartridges. One of my friend use to pay £15 per cartridge for having his HP ink cartridges refilled. On my recommendation he now buys original HP ink cartridges at an average price of £13. I have been using HP printers & scanners for more than 20 years and have found them of excellent quality although their ink cartridges and toners, many years ago, were expensive to purchase. In the olden days there were no discounts or a cheaper prices available. In late 1990s when the refil inks came on the market, I refilled one of the cartridges of my HP Officejet for re-use. For few days it worked well, then one morning I noticed that this particular machine had no power and it was switched off. I tried everything but no luck. Later during the day I started checking the machine and found that ink had leaked out of the ink cartridge onto the machine base. I dismantled the machine to clean and found that the ink had been leaking from the cartridge onto a circuit board under neath it and now the ink had spread to such an extent that it short circuit the board, hence the Officejet switched off. The circuit board was not worth repairing due to the damage caused. The new board was either not available or expensive to buy. It was cheaper to buy another second hand Officejet machine. Couple of days before this incident, same thing happened with my BT CF350 Fax machine, which had been in my use for the past 10 years before the incident. This machine also took the same type of ink cartridge that I refilled with ink for re-use. That was the last time I purchased a refill ink/cartridge/toner for any one of my equipment. Couple of days before the incident I purchased a NCR refilled toner cartridge for my HP Laserjet 4 printer because again it was considerable cheaper than the original HP toner cartridge. It printed OK but sometimes it was leaving black ink dots on the printed paper. I was not happy but carried on with it. When my HP Officejet & BT Fax machine blew, I immediately uninstalled the NCR toner cartridge from my Laserjet Printer and returned it to the seller(not an eBay seller) for a refund and start sourcing the HP Original Toner. That was the last time I ever purchased a third party/refilled/remanufactured cartridge. I had since being purchasing original cartridges for my equipment. On my advise and recommendations, several of my friends and family members now use original cartridges, which makes the machine last longer and also work very well. I would not recommend refilled, remanufactured etc cartridges to anyone to use in their machines because of the consequencies later experienced. All original cartridges of all makes - HP, Canon, Epson - are readily available on eBay at a considerable low price and in my opinion are an excellent value for money when compared with the manufacturer's list price, PC World, Staples, Viking and other several suppliers.
