Business InformationSpecial Tour Grinds and Porting
The Tour grind is typically a 7d roll on the trailing edge of the heel. This lets you open the face without adding bounce.
The GTO grind consist of a 3d toe roll, a 7d heel roll and a 2 trailing edge roll. This allows the club face to be opened or closed without adding bounce. This also helps reduce drag, thus keeping the face square at impact.
The P grind is a special sole cut that reduces digging and large divots associated with steep swings. This also helps keep the face square at impact and makes chipping and pitching very forgiving in tight & firm conditions.
The M grind is designed to be more forgiving in soft & wet conditions. It has a foil effect over the surface that keeps the leading edge from digging in.
Porting is a lesson we learned from Ben Hogan indirectly. Most wedges have too much weight on the bottom, which makes the center of gravity down on the lower two or three grooves. By porting weight out of the lower end,it raises the C.G. to the middle sweet spot.
Ron Price's Nomad Golf WRX Tour Van Service
Our company is a full-service tour van golf shop. Very few pros use off the shelf clubs in their tour bag. After receiving our service, players get an extra 15 to 20 percent more back spin. With wedges, the more backspin you can produce, the better shot you can make. Once you know your wedge distance for each loft and swing speed, the optimum shot is to strike the ball and make it stop on a dime.
About 60% of a tour player's shots are from less than 130 yards. For the typical weekend player, that number may be as much as 70%, which includes putting. Having the proper wedges can dramatically increase your performance and cut strokes off your short game. If you are hitting you wedge shots within a 20 foot circle or less, this will also help with those three putts.
