Back in the day...
Back in the day during the time when Saturday mornings were the day of the cartoons such as Tarzan, Heeman, Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, Speed Buggy, Captain Caveman, Thundore the Barbarian, Scooby Doo, Hong Kong Phooey, The Jetsons, The Flintstones, Fat Albert, Pink Panther, Secret Squirrel, Transformers, Space Ghost, Superfriends, Grape Ape, The Wheely Bunch, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Heathcliff, all the Hanna Barbara Classics, etc... us kids would get up early and argue over the tv and while eating, my siblings and me could hear our young friends outside already got a kickball game, dodgeball game, baseball game (with sticks/anything for a base, tennisball, and a bigger stick for a bat), jumproap, hopscotch, etc. going in the middle of the street.
Bring them back...
If we're playing baseball or kickball and a car needs to pass, you had better pick up that stick used for a base and carry it with you when you get out of the street because if you don't, the person with the ball could touch you and you're out. I used to get onery when I get out like that. (lol)
Those were the times when the drivers were so considerate and patient. We didn't have to rush out of the street. We even would touch the cars as they passed.
The good ole' days. The kids need those days. Neighborhoods and communities need those days. The world need those days. I intend to bring those days back.
