All About MeWhat everyone should know about me
Full-time visual-artist, living in West/N.W. Alabama (stuck here, really) all my life. First doodled (gas/grocery stores) by age two (1966); first cartooned (and attempted graphic-design) by age five (1969); first designed cars by ten

InterestsHobbies
Attempting to learn geometric,
UPA (Mr. Magoo) +style+,
inspired in 1940s by painter,
Saul Steinberg...but today associated with +kid-vid+ of 1950-'65 (i.e.,
Bullwinkle,
Underdog,
& early Hanna-Barbera). Also LOVE to craft the following: Miniatures of outdoor,
plastic-faced (or neon),
gas-station signs from 1950s-'60s. (2.)Hand-made models of luxurious,
+grandmas' cars+ which haven't yet been made into kits. (For example,
crafting 1/25-scale Bonnevilles,
Olds 98 Regencies,
Roadmasters,
& Electras...all from Chevy & Cadillac kits.) (3.)Action-figures of
cartoony heroes,
usually animal-humanoids (and often my own). (4.) Hand-made stuffed-plushes of cartoony--yet heroic--characters. (Again--often my own!) Favorite Books
Books on Animation! (Descriptions in a second.) Classic Motorbooks' histories of oil companies: +More Gulf Oil Collectibles+ (by the late Chas. Whitworth),
plus price-guides for four,
Rockefeller-based companies: Conoco/Marland,
Socony/Vacuum/Mobil,
N.J. Standard/Humble/Esso/Enco/Imperial,
& Ohio Standard/Boron/Fleet-Wing. Consumers' Guide's history books wanted: +Complete History of Ford Motor Co.+ /price-guides for Pepsi-Cola,
Coca-Cola,
& other soda-pop brands. Crown Publishers' histories of film-studios: +Paramount Story+,
+Universal Story+,
+20th-Fox Story+,
+Warner Bros. Story+,
and +United Artists Story+. Also seeking 1981 book,
+David O. Selznick's Hollywood+. Hardcover or softcover +History of Hanna-Barbera+. WANT books on CHILDRENS' book & magazine writing...PLEEEZE! Favorite Movies
TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES! And---at ONE time,
ten yrs. ago---American Movie Classics (now Am. Mediocrity Channel),
Prefer AMC's early-morning broadcasts of pre-1965 releases,
usually from 20th-Fox library. STRONGLY prefer silent cinema. And (nearly) ALWAYS...ANIMATION! Cel-animation,
the dying art of stop-motion animation...and the now-ubiquitous,
now-universal +CGI+ (+computer-generated images+).
Must have INTELLIGENT SCRIPTS,
however! Must n-e-v-e-r be conceived by producers without animation-experience...just to +keep kiddies quiet in their seats+. Must be fresh & original (i.e.,
Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli,
released by Disney/Buena Vista Home Video in N. America). I never watch titles originally conceived as follows: +Hey! Le's jus' do whut Disney's doin!+ (early 1990s) or +Le's jus' do whut Pixar's doin!+ (today) NO adult animation (i.e.,
Ralph Bakshi)---and almost NO R-rated flicks,
whatsoever---esp. teenage-guy comedies! Favorite Music/Bands
Prefer orchestral +easy-listening+ & +Tin-Pan-Alley+ standards (NOT classical-music,
please)...oldies from 1960s (toddler years) & 1970s (elem. school & Ala. School of Fine Arts). LOVE Enya (Warner Music Group),
Tangerine Dream,
Brian Eno,
Third Force,
and other electronic-space composer-performers. Also enjoy +house dance-mix+. obth categories have Warner Music-Group's +Chilled Spirit+ in common. Will gladly purchase CDs,
not just older vinyl LPs. BIG fan of Jewish klesmer (kleszmir?) music,
1960-1980 soul (incl. love-ballads),
soul-gospel,
& contemporary Christian soul such as that performed by +God's Property+ (Kirk Franklin),
Destiny's Child,
& Take-Six (Warner Music).
Please!...NO rap,
heavy-metal,
country-gospel (too socio-cultural,
and too dominant down here in rural Ala.,
anyway!) or tame,
White,
hotel-ballroom-orchestra +jazz+ (i.e.,
Russ Columbo,
Rudy Vallee,
Paul Whiteman,
Guy Lombardo,
early Lawrence Welk,
&c.) from 1920-1935. Favorite TV Shows
Business InformationHistory/background
Full-time, commercial-artist & studio-artist; with business from backyard studio in Fayette, Ala. (Fayette is 30 m. east of Mississippi...80 m. west of B'ham...& 40 m. north of Tuscaloosa/Northport/Univ. of Ala.) Prefer to: design characters in animation-draftsmanship...to develop landscapes of roadside retail-Americana...and to draw antique, classic, high-performance, & futuristic vehicles. (In fact, have two series of watercolors with these themes; all for hand-signed, color photocopies.) But I also enjoy portraiture---and especially modern art! All in pencils-&-charcoal...black inks...colored markers, pens, pastels, & colored pencils...watercolor, and acrylics-on-canvas. Occasionally in oils. Also paint outdoor signs, design graphic-layouts, & design trademarks (including letterheads & business-cards) for small-businesses. Will have examples--VERY soon!--on both deviantart.com AND on furnation.com.
+About Me+ gives my career's background, from toddlerhood into college.
Payment policy
Am h-o-p-i-n-g to s-e-l-l on eBay, someday...v-e-r-y soon! Cannot register as an +eBay Seller+---because I own n-o credit-cards. Have n-e-v-e-r owned any, not even in college (mid-1980s), where teasing invitations (to apply for credit-cards) wooed us from almost every wall & door. This has saved my hide, up into now! eBay +requires+ a credit-card-number for any member who wishes to register as a Seller or eBay Store. However, with local customers and any/all out-of-state customers beyond eBay, I do accept money-orders, travelers' checks, & bank-checks as well as cash.
