I received my Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Music with Emphasis on Oboe degree from CSULB in 2006 and I plan to be finished with the Band Instrument Repair Diploma program at Red Wing in May 2007. I have 8 years of experience playing the oboe and making reeds, and 15 years of experience playing the flute. My most influential teachers have been Joe Stone and Leo Potts.
Business InformationHistory/background
I love making reeds, repairing instruments, playing oboe and flute, and giving lessons! I'm slowly finding my niche in the music industry doing all of these things. I hope to soon have the privilege of working in a well reputed shop repairing woodwind instruments and building upon the skills I've acquired at Red Wing. I have reed customers ranging from high school students to adults who play for fun to college professors and professional players in five countries. I teach flute and oboe students about the physical aspects of playing (air, embouchure, fingers, etc.), how to make notes into music, and why music sounds the way it does (history and theory tidbits). I also still practice every day and periodically take lessons myself. My career is largely focused on helping other musicians experience music in positive ways, with reeds and instruments that function at a high level and my teaching what has been passed to me from my own teachers.
