Overall I think RE: ORC is a fun renter or buyer for nice multiplayer.
RE: Operation Raccoon City received poor reviews from IGN and GameInformer. Typically I buy games based on their opinions but in the case of Raccoon City I must disagree with them. The game was filled with bugs so I'm told on opening day but having played around 10 hours of campaign and multiplayer I only see a few small, non game breaking issues. It feel's more like Gears of War than typical Resident Evil games. The shooting mechanic works great, and overall combat is addicting. There are a few things with melee attacks I do not like. You can be constantly knocked down and have no way to dodge out of the way so you are kept in a damage loop until you die. It only happens here and there and most combat is ranged. There are a lot of guns to buy but they get old and I wish there were more options to at least upgrade what guns you have. You can however buy and upgrade player specific abilities. They upgrade your character significantly and make for a well rounded group of fighters. Graphics are well done, and the tone is set in a dark and dreary world, but you can pretty much tear the zombies a new one and it gives you a great sense of power. Finally I don't know what about this game people want to hate so much. I think people get so used to one style of gameplay and they cannot let it go and nothing else will do unless it's what they know.
