Welcome to Nippon Rare Optics, a store dedicated to the sale of well-built, affordable items from the golden era of Japanese-crafted optical instruments — a time before all manufacturers were forced to succumb to the wave of off-shoring that swept the industry. In those bygone days companies like Vixen Optics, Pentax, Kowa, and others still crafted all of their products in Japan, and those products proudly bore the "made in Japan" stamp — which came to be recognized the world over as a mark of premium materials and high build quality. Nowadays, although some of those companies' wares are still constructed in Japan, many products that bear that stamp are partially or wholly assembled elsewhere. With rare exceptions (some accessories), all of the products offered on this site were made entirely in Japan; many are no longer manufactured or are very difficult to find; and all are in good to excellent condition, ready to provide discerning buyers with many years of fun and enjoyment.
