Business InformationHistory/background
Record Dungeon was founded in 1980 by Eddie D., now with Tony O. as the Dungeon Master as of April 2008. Keeping in the Record Dungeon tradition, the store puts emphasis on 50s and 60s R&R, R&B and Soul. and, after 29 years, it’s the oldest all vinyl record shop in New York’s Hudson Valley region! Record Dungeon has it's roots in the shops Eddie D. frequented during his 50's and 60's juvenile delinquent years in the Bronx....Cousins Records, Music Makers....both on Fordham Road, Times Square in Manhattan, Relic Rack in Hackensack and later Val Shively's R&B Records in Upper Darby, PA and Ronnie I's Clifton Music in Clifton NJ. The store was driven by Ed's love of 50s Rock & Roll and fueled by the radio shows and stations that played Oldies But Goodies. Today, Tony also holds to the same roots also including the Record Dungeon itself! Original labels, Reissue labels, indie and major! Record Dungeon has all of that plus 100,000 more 45 and LP records to choose from!

Vinyl Rules At The Record Dungeon
If it sounds like vinyl, it must be, because CDs don't sound that good! What's in the grooves is what counts! If could be the sweet sound of Smokey Robinson singing - You Can Depend On Me - backed up by the sweet soulful harmony of the Miracles or the heartfelt country ballads of Whispering Bill Anderson. Maybe the the early Brit invasion Beatles on Tollie or Vee Jay is more to your taste? Early 80s New Wave sounds better on vinyl too! Do you remember those now hard to find 12inch Disco remix singles from the 70s? Of course there's always the sound of Tom Jones live in Las Vegas. I prefer the sounds of Acappella myself....Especially something super rare like - Will You Love Me When I'm Old - by the Black Hawks that's never been issued on any CD! Vinyl will never be final at the Record Dungeon!
