After Hours in Madrid
I first saw this comedy in the New York Festival when it first came out and perhaps the distributors didn't promote it much, but it got pretty good reviews and several Goyas ( spanish Oscars) nominations.
It is set in the Spain of the late 80's like Pedro Almodovar's first films and it does a great job capturing the ambience, the sheer manic energy of the people, who want to have fun at all costs as if trying to make up for lost opportunities during the years of Dictatorship.
The story centers around a couple Carlos (Resines) and Bea (Forque) who split in the beginning of the film and their crazy group of friends and colleagues, all of them trying to squeeze up to the last drop of excitement out of every night.
It may be a bit dated but is great fun all the same.
