Regardless of age, the G5 STILL packs a huge punch.. Big bang for a buck!!
My experience using the PowerMac G5 2.0GHz DP (June 2003) model far better than what I initially expected. As a Pro Tools 8 & Final Cut user, this machine is still running circles around my old G4 MDD. I can see a huge difference in performance with my eyes closed. The G5 has stronger 64bit dual processors, higher ram capacity (up to 8GB), faster system bus speeds, higher cache bus speeds, usb 2.0, firewire 400, firewire 800, digital I/O ports & 9 (nine) whisper quiet cooling fans. My only complaints: 1. My PCI expansion cards won't fit this unit (G5 is PCI-X series). 2. It isn't compatible with the newer versions of Pro Tools. 3. It's maximum Operating System is OSX 10.5.8. 4. It will only recognize ram sticks ONLY when they are installed in pairs (ie. 2x256mb, 2x512mb, 2x1GB, 2x2GB, etc.) I'm not concerned with adobe flash support as I browse the web from my laptop & or android device. This machine is STRICTLY a dedicated production machine & I am very happy to use it in my recording studio. It's blazing fast, looks more modern & it makes my rig ultra stable & error free. To sum it up, if you are on a budget & you are shopping for a powerful production unit; IF your specs are compatible with PowerPC G5, this machine is the way to go. Simply max out the ram & watch how surprised you'll be. Right now, mine is running 4.5GB of ram & hasn't blinked or hiccuped YET. AWESOME..

Great Unit for podcasting and live audio streaming
This unit is absolutely amazing, it’s attractive and has jaw dropping sound quality. The look, feel and build of the product very professional and durable. I love having the ability to insert 4 mics, a mobile device via Bluetooth and a media player on aux. they even have a client app so you can import custom sound effects. Your podcasts can be edited using third party digital audio workstations. Cons: *No mountable USB media device disk to connect to computer & retrieve files. *No native DAW to record podcasts directly to computer via onboard interface. *You can’t adjust vocal fx and other dynamics onboard. Additional editing can be achieved with compatible 3rd party daws.

Great for Beginners & Novice Recording Enthusiasts
The Digidesign Mbox 2 is 2nd Generation hardware for Pro Tools Recording. Although its considered to be older hardware, this device is great for any beginner or novice engineer who's using Pro Tools in home/small recording studios. What I like about it is the most are the multiple in/ouputs. Which makes it fairly easy to setup a microphone for recording and one for talkback. Or if you are using live or analog instruments, the multiple inputs allows you to record multiple instruments in one take. In addition, I like the 2 channel gain knobs which allows you to control the gain on each input. both knobs has phantom power supply, built into the channel. What I don't like about this unit is you can not use the line in & mic input at the same time. Also, I do not like the fact that you have to use the more expensive balanced 1/4 audio cables. Using un balanced 1/4 audio cables will result in buzzing & or whining noises on your in/outputs of this device. These noises can also be captured into your recordings so balanced cables are highly recommended. Lastly, I do not like the fact that the newer versions of Pro Tools will no longer recognize this device. In comparison to the Mbox 2 mini & the Mbox 1, this device has more capability as there are waay more in/outputs and the sound quality is much better. If you are shopping for this device, I would recommend it.
