Okami (PlayStation 2, 2006)
(the following was written after about one hour playing the aforementioned title) This game is simply amazing. Even though the gameplay and general pacing is extremely similar to a Zelda game(which can't be considered a flaw really) the game does indeed stand out on it's own because of the Japanese mythology it's based on as well as the cel-shaded sume-e inspired visuals. I've heard some compare the graphics to those in Zelda: the Windwaker, however Okami's seem light years ahead because the shapes are all clearly outlined in what seem to be smooth brushstrokes. The way characters interact with the heroine (the white wolf is a reincarnation of the Godess Amaterasu) very reminicent of Zelda games especially in the whimsical sense of humour. It's all a very good mix of familiar and new.Great title for any Zelda fan, or simply anyone willing to try something new. This is one game that's hard not to love.

The original zelda rules (thought it's tough)
I really like this game just because all of the history behind it. I owned an original NES but I never did get around to buying it so I gladly took advantage of this opportunity to get in on this classic game. It has all the basic Legend of Zelda elements however at their most basic (non-playable character interaction is kept at an absolute minimum unlike more recent zelda games). It's a joy for an 80's kid like me to look at those wonderful 8-bit graphics on my nintendo DS screen and reminice, however if you're not an oldskool gamer you may not be impressed. The one thing to remember about this game if you've never played it before is that it is extremely hard. Not because you need to be quick with your thumbs but because everything in it is so vague that its really hard to figure out what to do next (again, almost no non-playable character interaction). It's a must to have a strategy guide or some kind of a walk-through to figure it out. When the game was originally released, even the instruction booklet had some tips and maps so as to not get lost and frustrated. But anyway, like I said I got this game for nostalgic reasons. If you are a zelda fan that didn't get to play the original NES games, you should definitely check this out just to know where the saga began.

Timesplitters 2 (gamecube)
I bought this game because I was trying to find a fps that would feel like Goldeneye 007 on the N64. This game having been made by part of the Goldeneye 007 team definitely delivers on that expectation. The controls need to be tweaked in options menu, but once you have done that you'll be able to play a game that feels like a new and improved Goldeneye, with a higher frame rate and ploygon count. I have only played the first level in the story mode(though you can play that co-op with a buddy)and a few deathmatches with bots and they are also very Goldeneye-esque. If you were never able to get into many other fps after Goldeneye, this one will definitely tickle your fancy. Highly recommended.
