InterestsFair Trade
We support Fair Trade, social justice and artisans struggling to make a living in Peru. Most of our Ebay revenue is paid directly to the artisans that made the products. No children are employed in our studios. When dealing with Sanyork Fair Trade you are dealing directly with the artisan producing the crafts. We have extensive product development and quality control for any items we produce or assist our partner artisans produce. We ensure that all artisans involved are paid above the national average, work in a healthy work environment and have raw materials readily available. We also strive to obtain wholesale orders for a continuous flow of work and promote Sanyork Fair Trade artisans on the web and trade markets. We have a permanent showroom at the Denver Merchandise Mart where we promote our products to the trade and participate in a number of national wholesale trade shows and events.
Business InformationHistory/background
In 2003 we built the workshop and artists quarters in Peru where our artists work in a comfortable, safe and clean environment. In 2004 we became fair trade certified. Prompex, the goverment of Peru's crafts promotion office gave us their endorsement and certification for exporting and promoting the traditional crafts of Peru. In 2005 Co-Op America gave us their support for promoting fair trade and producing environmentally safe crafts and for helping communities become self sustaining. We now employ and board 63 full time artisans in addition to our office staff. Our artists are paid well above the national average and we promote and practice fair trade. We directly market our hand made products at reasonable prices and try to further awareness of the need to rescue the talent of disadvantaged and underemployed artisans in Peru.
