Slow Service Guarantee
Actually I do not fully guarantee slow service, but these days I am a one-person operation and often run days behind on emails and hence order fulfillment. The Ordering Information link at my site tells you how to best speed your order.
Know Your Dealer
Ebay has enabled many fine part-time dealers, attracted some of the established names in mailorder and show sales, and allowed shop dealers to retail foreign coins effectively. Still, I always wonder why so few sellers show their names. Reputation should be important to buyers who are new to collecting, or to a given specialty. Yet, ebay promotes privacy over accountability. If the coin or the deal looks suspicious, ask the seller's name, and discreetly query other collectors and dealers before bidding. Sellers who are serious coin dealers should be willing to respond to questions about authenticity and value. Those who are specialists can help you learn about a new interest through recommended books and websites. Responsible dealers will recommend research, and purchase of inexpensive items before going after expensive ones. Be most careful of sellers who provide a photo but no description, and those who sell numismatic items only as a sideline.
