Hi! I am a collector of glass fishing floats, especially American and European-made floats. I live on the East Coast, and am endeavoring to build a museum quality collection of floats to preserve their history for future generations.

My vocation is wholesale plant farming. I have 15 greenhouses in which my crew and I grow herb, vegetable and perennial potted plants for the retail garden market.

Of course I'm always looking for new additions to my collection of glass fishing floats. Unless a float has a distinct shape such as an egg float, knobbed egg float, dog's neck float, or is an authentic fishing float made in a color of glass other than green, I only look for floats with a maker's marking for historical reasons. I am particularly looking for a red, blue, orange or aqua colored float with the maker's marking of: Made in Czechoslovakia; an amber colored float with Russian writing on the flattened base, which says: cccp Kpagotpect; and another American float that is shaped like an egg with grooves on the sides, and is embossed with the words: S.H.Davis & Co. Gill Net Float Patented Jan.16th 1877. I am also hoping to add a tear drop shaped float with the marking: Pat. Pending, on the round base, large egg shaped floats, and small dog neck floats. Because I am interested in building a historical collection of glass floats, I am also collecting any historical information of the users of the floats, the glass companies who made them, sales receipts, etc. If you shold know of an old fisherman or wife of a fisherman who has the memories of using glass floats, I would truly like to speak with that person. Perhaps I am too late to meet a person like that, but the hope within me is alive and well.
