Trekkies - " Transporter room ready to beam up."
57 of 58 found this helpful Star Trek is a culture phenomenon in our back yard and even, perhaps, the world. We can not think of any event, entertainment or otherwise, that has had as far reaching impact than Gene Roddenberry creation.
Trekkies is a documentary that runs 86 minutes. It was created by Robert Nygard. It is hosted by Denise Crosby. Mrs.Denise Crosby was an actress in Star Trek: The Next Generation. It was nice to see her doing something again. She was a good reporter/interviewer, asking interesting questions and she seemed genuinely touched by the impact of Star Trek had on it fans.
As Spock said many times in the Original Series "Fascinating"
Trekkies documentary- We feel is worth buying and watching. We found ourself laughing and feeling touched at the same time. With that said "Transporter room ready to beam up."

Star Trek: The Original Series - Season One (2007, HD DVD)
Remastered from original series...The discs are HD-DVD and DVD combo discs. The new special effects are awesome, we just watched 5 episodes, in HD, one word - WOW !!! All you trek fans will not be dissapointed with this set. The sound tracks and music are all redone in HD sound. The picture in HD is very sharp and clear, and the colors are vibrant on screen, all thru the epsiodes!
So go boldly where no man had gone before, Gene Roddenberry's phenomenon

Roughnecks - is a series based upon both the original novel, Starship Troopers, by Robert Heinlein and of the movie by the same name that was directed by Paul Verhoeven. This DVD set is one of the most spectacular computer animation series we have seen to date. Starship Troopers Chronicles was an animated television show from CGI's earlier days. It's a story of a Mobile Infantry Unit (Roughnecks) going from planet to planet to battle an alien bug race, known as the "Bugs!"
The series is divided into "campaigns," each taking place in a different location - an Ice Asteroid, a Water Planet, a Desert Planet and finally on Earth. The Roughnecks learn about their enemy, finding new iterations of bug life with each situation and facing each in battle. You see the story through the camera lens of a reporter deployed as part of the unit. He is not a gifted / skilled fighter thats for sure, but for the sake of survival, he must learn to shoot bugs as well as manage his bulky camera.
The only draw back we could find was that the series was discontinued so Dizzy, Karl, Carmen, Johnny Rico, and Lt.Rasczak might just be the "Roughnecks, that live forever!"
If your a starship trooper fan, extra features not seen on the TV series, makes this DVD set a must have for any Serious Roughneck or Sci-Fi fan.
