I first got the vulcan 750 from Greater Boston Motor sports over a casual chat in the year 2002. I extensively used this bike. The shaft drive with least maintenance of tappet and other
frequent maintenance items are highly reliable. What is amazing is the stopping power of this motorcycle with the twin front disc break system. I tried several bikes of this class for break efficiency and I am admitting that this was the best one. The motor is highly reliable but on initial start the hydraulic valve lifters can be a bit noisy. Eventually this nicene almost disappear when the engine is warmed up.I never got the rear tyre flat and I always prayed that this should not happen to any one. Dismantling the rear tyre is a real pain in the ass as right side muffler has to be dismantled to pull the tyre axile to take the tyre rim out. Then there is always achance the muffler gasket may give off.
So much has been set, I fell in love with this machine. I got a send 1986 Vulcan 750. My son wanted a vulcan too.Guss what...a 1993 vulcan 750 for him which I built. The 2002 Vulcan was traded for a Beemer for a travelling class but I was so much impressed with the constant performance I am building another 1985 Vulcan 700/750.
The motor is powerful enough to make over 80 mph in the highway.
The twin front disc brakes give me a sure stop.
Iam not worried on gas...this one goes with regular and less expensive whereas the beemer needs premium
Shaft drive....hydraulic valve lifters...dont put a wrench or screwdriver on the engine ...no adjustments required.
Very reliable electrical system...I tried my last bike with GEL maintenance free battery ..works great.
This can be a first bike in life and can also be the bike for the entire life. Shame on the factory the factory stopped making this model for 2007.
