History/background
Skarie, Inc. was started in 1946 when Eugene B. Skarie began selling radial arm saws out of his pick-up truck. The company quickly grew and expanded into selling all types of wood and metal working equipment. Mr. Skarie was a pioneer in marketing as he had a live TV show where he demonstrated various woodworking tools. In 1954 Skarie, Inc. hired Mr. Newton C. Dunn. Mr. Dunn became the general manager of the store and is still active in the business after 54 years. Today he heads the used equipment department at Skarie and is a wealth of information that will never be replaced. In the mid 1960’s Skarie, Inc. focused the business on the sale of woodworking equipment exclusively.
