It's good to be the Overlord
I tried the demo of the original Overlord a while back and decided to buy it. I've finished the first Overlord game and I am now about 1/4 (or so?) through the 2nd game. The series is great. It does have some flaws which mar the experience, but only slightly. First the little nitpicks. I know people don't like the camera but it's no big deal unless you're big on action and this is more of a strategy game where you need to slow down and assess the situation anyway. Also, sometimes your minions don't behave 90% as they should when you're trying to get them to go somewhere or pick up something. "Hey, you guys missed 1 of those 10 gold sacks.. *sigh* guess I have to pick it up myself.." or "Attack those fire gnomes... attack them already! Ahhh! Get it off! Get it off!" in particular come to mind, but these are only two little things in an otherwise wonderful little game. Oh, it's also somewhat difficult to tell whether you're being good or bad at times, but I finally learned that "dominating" others is being nice. So if you're ever given the choice between destroying something and having others do something for you.. go enslave some people or you're going to be disappointed with the results (unless you really DID want to burn that town down in your first play through!). Now for the good things. There are a lot of good things. Namely there are a lot of improvements over the first game. You can now revive your minions (costs 2x their level in minion essence/souls) so if one of your little buggers grabs a fancy helmet early on then you're going to get to see that same helmet for a very long time (unless you don't revive them). There's tons of special objects in the game to collect. I've always enjoyed collecting special goodies in Zelda-type fashion. You'll often see an object you can't yet reach and then come back later to claim it once you can access more of that area. It's a great system for adventure games that never gets old. I'll just list off a few more features of the game now. -Forge a verity of different weapons and armor as you find different mold sets. -Have up to 3 mistresses. -Minions have mounts now. So far only wolves but I think the other 3 colors have mounts too. -There's a $5 arena add-on on the playstation network. A must-have IMO. -Full PSN trophy support, for you trophy enthusiasts. -Comical world full of satire. So basically if you liked the first game then this is basically more of the same and you will not be disappointed. If you haven't played the first game and you like adventure games or cute little minions then you should try the first Overlord game out or at least try a demo. They're both great games and I can't see how anyone could be disappointed unless you're looking for a more action oriented game like God of War.

Basically a sequel to Get Shorty
Travolta is one of my favorite actors, but I just couldn't finish watching this movie. It was basically quite boring (in my opinion) and there's quite a bit of cursing throughout the movie. It's not an action title, but it seeks to shock the audience at random moments (like Tarantino's work). So if you don't mind lots of seemingly pointless dialogue, quirky characters, and like Travolta, random acts of violence, and/or want to see what happened after Get Shorty, then you might like this film. Otherwise, there are much better titles that get these things right without boring the audience, like the more recent Kick-Ass movie. Oh, there's also Uma Thurman, Dwayne Johnson, and Danny Devito, but despite all these good actors, they still couldn't save this film.

A very good romantic comedy.
I've always liked Michelle Pfeifer, and she seems to have a charm about her that gets better with age. She makes a perfect mother in this film and the scenes with her and Saoirse playing with barbie dolls together must be seen. If you like comedies then you will not be disappointed. My only problem with this movie is that most of the people Michelle's character works with are mostly forgettable and/or unlikeable. Michelle, Saoirse, Jon Lovitz, and Paul Rudd all more than make up for this. Oh, and there's also Tracey Ulman as mother nature. My favorite scene in the movie (which I could watch again and again) is Saoirse dancing and singing "Oops! I done a career!" which is super cute and not to be missed.
