Not the latest but it is great!
Amazing that an extra 13" diagonal can cost 2-3x the amount of a 65" TV, but when I saw this 78" on sale with free shipping, just had to jump on it. It's a big TV - the box (compared to a 65") was huge, but that's largely because the stand is already attached. They likely don't trust consumers to carefully lay this big guy flat and assemble it so the stand is attached from the factory.
We had professional TV mounters install it on a full-motion mount, glad we did so we could get to it. We've added Philips Hue Light Strips to the back to give it a theatre back-glow - looks great. The installer did note that this thing is hefty and requires the full support of the blocking the builder installed as part of the wall mount TV package (side note: why do builders always put wall outlet and cable run at *the* height the mount needs to attach to the wall at - they should always put it below or above!!).
Image quality is amazing - just a great reminder that a previous model year in the high-end of a line-up can have staying power and be a great value!
I do hate Samsung's Inputs/Source Switching though - can't disable TV/coax, even though all we use are boxes (TiVO, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and BluRay)... and it also displays all the network devices in our home like every Sonos speaker, etc. and no perceivable way to turn those off so changing inputs is annoying. Another case of engineers not actually using the product in a modern home...
But you buy TV's for image quality and this one is a beauty!
