An underpublicized fact about this DVD Recorder is that it is fully compatible with DVD+R DL (Dual Layer) media. Dual Layer makes all the difference in the world, because while most people know that their movie DVDs held almost 4 hours of material, they did not realize that was because commercial DVDs are dual layered. The first generations of DVD recorders could not record on Dual Layer discs and were thus limited to a measly 2 hours of recording time. Since most of us have been spoiled by the VCR's ability to record 6 hours of material, being limited to one-third of that time is outrageous. This machine allows you to record almost 4 full hours without any degradation of quality; just perfect for recording college football games even if you don't edit out the commercials. Great machine and you can watch all your old VHS tapes too.
