Sony 5 Megapixel Marvel
Excellent camera that continues to give me superb shots time after time. Set it on Auto, or get creative and set everything manually if you wish! But its "only" 5 megapixel you say? Well with that huge great Zeiss Lens it will outperform ANY of the larger pixel count cameras with lenses no better than a pinhole camera! I was considering upgrading to Sony's 8mp 828, but the 717, in my opinion, and that of many others, gives superior results. The 828 suffers from severe purple fringing, the 717 doesn't! Ever! A great choice.

Affordable High Quality A3 Printing
Excellent printer that, when using high quality Epson (or Canon) papers produces outstanding results. I've used mine to reprint old magazine adverts (scanned at hi-res on an Epson 4990) from the 1940s and I can honestly say, the reprints look far better to the eye than the original prints. BUT, to achieve the best results, does mean using the best papers. Perhaps the only annoying thing about the printer is that it must be operated on a very regular basis, as the printheads will clog (and I ONLY use genuine Epson inks) within a short period of time. I would suggest printing an A4 pic out at least once a week. I notice Epson now has on the market an A3 printer at almost twice the cost of this unit. It may be twice the price, but I find it hard to imagine that print quality could be twice a good as what the 1290 puts out! It really does punch out superb images.
