Stalag 17 DVD
Stalag 17 is another old black and white war movie. Many of the people in this movie you will have seen since then in other movies and TV shows. This movie is set in a prisoner of war camp run by the Germans during World War II. This is about a group of sargents that were captured and are trying to escape. The camp can be described as a mud hole, infact the mud plays a part in the plot to some extent. This movie could be called a study of personalities within the camp. There are the Germans who run the camp and a wild assortment of prisoners plotting escape. But there are problems in the group. I could go into lots of detail but it would spoil some of the surprizes in the plot. The DVD itself is of high quality and the picture is sharp. Even in black and white it still looks good. Anyone who is a fan of military or war movies should get this one for sure. It will be worth the price.

Handspring Visor Pro Palm OS
This is an older Palm style handheld computer with the Palm operating system in non volitile ROM. It has a monochrome screen which makes it very usefull outdoors. When I am on a rooftop in bright sunlight a color unit would fade out but this one is always legible. The 16 megs of RAM means that I can store a lot of information. Models and serial numbers of rooftop heat/cool systems can be entered with ease. Also since the unit is so small and fits int a pocket, I do not have to carry a large clipboard up a ladder with only one hand free. I have 2 hands to climb with which is much safer. Other color units I reserve for indoors away fro sunlight. This is one of several handhelds that I own and I pick up spares on e-bay whenever I get the chance. If you need a unit for work and can do without the color screen particularly if you work outdoors this could be the handheld for you.

Historically accurate account of Pearl Harbour attack
This particular movie tries to be as accurate as the history books permit. The acting is excellent and many of the actors are big names even to this day. The realism is increased by the Japanese dialog with English subtitles. I normally am not a fan of subtitles but in the case of this movie it seems to add to the realism of the production. There are a great many Japanese actors in this movie and tons of extras from both sides of the ocean. I find that this movie differs from the much more recent production of the movie called Pearl Harbour in that the latter seems to concentrate more on romantic entanglements of the people in the movie and the actual historical aspects of Pearl Harbour seem to take a back seat to the plot. This is an action movie that everyone should see to get some idea of the actual events of the attack on Pearl Harbour. TORA! TORA! TORA! should be a part of the study of the history of World War II in every high school. We tend to look to Hollywood for newer and better movies every year but a great many of the older movies such as this one made in 1970 were done very well and told a good story. We should not ignore old movies just because they are old but we should look for the very best of the old movies and enjoy them. If you are too young to remember when this movie first came out then it is new to you so enjoy it with that fact in mind.
