RENT The Movie and Soundtrack CD
Rent is a beautiful and touching story the story of 8 friends in 1989 dealing Love, Life and AIDS in the crime ridden section of Manhattan's Alphabet City. ROSARIO DAWSON, as the a seductive stripper Mimi give and excellent performance in a new twist on the character of Mimi. ANTHONY RAPP as Mark, an aspiring filmmaker and ADAM PASCAL as Roger, the struggling singer/songwriter reprise their roles from the original cast of the Broadway Mega- Hit. Both Rapp and Pascal give flawless performances. TAYE DIGGS, as Benny, their former roommate and the current landlord. The cast highlight is WILSON JERMAINE HEREDIA as Angel, the high fashion charismatic HIV positive transvestite. JESSE L. MARTIN, from TV's "Law & Order" plays Collins. He sings a touching rendition of the reprise of "I'll Cover You". IDINA MEZEL, plays Maureen the rebellious Bi-Sexual performance artist. TRACIE THOMS, plays a lawyer and lover of Maureen. Overall an Excellent cast give a spectacular performance of this gritty and tragic love story.
