The most valuable lesson I learned in grad school - English Language and Literature, University of Chicago - is that I know nothing. Knowlege is a vast corridor from which branches an infinite number of doors. I am grateful to have stumbled into it.

I am a collector of beautiful books, a teacher of college English, a writer, and voracious reader. I sell books because I love them. I understand that from a true bookman's point of view, Easton Press, Folio Society and Franklin Signed First Editions have no inherant value, but, for me, these volumes stand on their artistic merit, for their content(language, story, characters, themes), and for their beauty as highest examples of the bookcrafters' art. Along with books I sell art and crafts items from around the world that I acquire in my travels: china, ceramics, original prints, jewelry and accessories.

I own hundreds of premium books, myself, and therefore understand well buyers' motives in acquiring them. I generally do not offer for sale a book I haven't or wouldn't read, and if there is something wrong with a book, I'll say so - if it's damaged (which happens easily - I've scratched gilding myself, just removing the packaging) - or the content is questionable in some way. I read fiction, history, poetry, plays, art history, literary theory and critism, travel literature, music, anthropology, psychology, sociology politics`and food/lifestyle pop and scholarship.

I prefer PayPal, but I take cash, checks and money orders.

If buyers pay by 8pm Eastern time, I can generally ship the following day. I wrap carefully and hand carry packages to the P.O. Once the package leaves my hands, however, I have no control over its fate. I offer Media Mail shipping service because it is the least expensive option, but buyers should realize the tradeoff is it can be SLOW.

I take returns if I am at fault in reporting the condition of the items for sale.

I check messages morning and evening.
