KORG M-500SP Micro-Preset Vintage Analog Synth M500 with Speaker RARE Untested
Jul 10, 2017
Perhaps the most under-rated vintage analog synth there is.
I should note that despite the fact that this listing was described as being the speaker version, it turns out that that was incorrect - no speaker. That's a good thing! The speaker version, to me, is a little naff. Anyhow, don't listen to the naysayers, this analog monophonic synth is amazing. For such a simple machine it is capable of an incredible array of sounds as long as you take the time to learn its quirks and tweak with a gentle hand. It is so much more than the "OMD synth" it is a perfect synth for noodling and experimenting with drones and ambient pads. Mine had issues when I bought it - but the issues turned out to be the same issues everybody else has with it. There are two capacitors that typically leak damaging part of the circuit board. Once the circuit was repaired and the capacitors replaced, it fired up perfectly and now operates flawlessly. If you buy one of these, expect the capacitor issue to happen sooner or later if it hasn't already been fixed. When enough people figure this thing out, these are going to get expensive.
