Recently, we rescued a lovely horse named Blaze. He had been neglected for over 2 1/2 years by the time we saw him, and was skin and bones...severely underweight. His feet hadn't been trimmed in a long time, and his coat was dull, dry and filthy. He had several sores on his body, and a recent cinch gall under his elbow that was raw and bleeding. But, under all this was a huge need for TLC, and a big heart. We took him in, even though we didn't have a place for him! After a lot of begging and pleading (and a good look at this poor creature) a friend of ours allowed us to put him up temporarily in her stables until we can build him a corral and shelter here. His new name is Sunny Jim, after the noted horse trainer and because he really has a happy disposition. He turned out to be quite a handsome horse, and has gained a lot of weight after a short time, due to supplements, fresh clean water, and good feed. His feet have been trimmed, and he has an appointment with the dentist soon.

We will try to feature an animal here each week, or give an update on one's current condition. This week is Max (pictured at top left). Max is a two year old rat terrier, full of energy and spunk, and a lot of love! His attention span is VERY short, but he is all terrier...fearless and with a ton of get-up-and-go. Max was rescued from a backyard breeder, who had several dogs in tiny cages with no food or water. There was feces piled up in the cages, and the dogs' fur was so matted with feces, we couldn't even see their colors! Max was one of two puppies that had survived these atrocious conditions. We took him in, fed him top grade food, and got him medical attention for the fleas and ticks he was infested with, as well as for his skin sores and malnutrition. He is now a lively and healthy pup, and we love him dearly! Your purchase from us will help another needy animal like Max have a happily- ever- after, too.
