When hopping from country to country
As an ex-pat executive, my variant on the so called power suit a long bias cut skirt in an expensive looking knit or lightweight wool, a jacket that fits perfectly, or a textured, belted cardigan, Have a large wraparoud scarf or shawl at hand for air conditioned rooms that folds up into nothing when you don't need it, a handbag that will stand up on its own, not flop over for meetings, and a small clutch for restaurants, and sunglasses to avoid unwanted stares. For those times when a suit is too stuffy and a cocktail dress is over the top, palazzo pants with flat metallic sandals are the perfect solution. In hot countries, a trenchcoat will be too heavy. Use the flimsiest khaki fabric wrap coat, a longer length windbreaker with a drawstring waist, or a light linen duster.
