A REAL review of the book
This book is a great history text. It is written in a contemporary easy to read style, similiar to a novel. It is really easy to read, and is not dry like some history texts. It is well illustrated and has a logical, informed layout in each chapter of the information. Its only real drawback is the paperback binding. The two volumes are divided at the perfect times- the first ends after the Civil War, the second starts with Reconstruction and goes up to the War on Terror. If it is required text, you have to like it regardless. For casual learning of American history, it is a super book to have.
