YOU ARE BIDDING ON
What Happens when a series of Online Auctions reveals a suburban neighborhood’s secrets? Meet the hero of YOU ARE BIDDING ON. His online ID is hermskids and in a series of 50 real online auctions, he tells all he knows, and some things he doesn’t understand, about his family, friends and neighbors.
Each chapter is a new auction that was listed on Ebay during the summer and fall of 2002. The items auctioned ranged from a Mork and Mindy Lunchbox & Thermos to a 1961 Pin-up Calendar and other oddities. The reader might have actually been involved in some of these auctions. Unlike most of the people who list their auction items online and give just a brief description of the item, hermskids tells the whole hilarious story: who asked him to list the item, why they needed to sell it, and inadvertently, the truth about their lives and loves is divulged to the entire cyberworld. Is it just a collection of auction descriptions, or is it social commentary? Available on Amazon.
